About me

She specialised in Ballet and Character Dance. During this 5 years intensive programme, Ana studied with renowned teachers such as Anatoly Sapogov, Galina Antonenko, Valery Zvezdochkin, Tatyana Gradova, Volya Vakha, and artistic director Yuri Gromov (who had a planet named after him!).
Ana performed with the White Nights Ballet Theatre, folk dance ensemble Banzé, DiTarso Dance Company, Youth Performing Arts Company Lorenzo Fernandez, Izabel Costa (co-founder of Grupo Corpo) among others. She is the Artistic Director for Terpsichoring dance.
In the UK, Ana has most recently toured an original autobiographical solo show called Me, Myself and Misha to places such as Leeds Playhouse, York Theatre Royal, Cast in Doncaster and the festivals UK New Artists (Lincoln) and Migration Matters (Sheffield). Ana was also commissioned by the York Theatre Royal to create a short piece called Green Shoots.
Ana received awards for her choreography and students were awarded as best dancers, including male dancers. Previous students have moved on to join professional companies such as the Pina Bausch Tanztheatre (Germany), Di Tarso dance company (Brazil), and accepted to vocational training at prestigious schools, such as the Bolshoi Ballet in Brazil (the only branch out of Russia) and the Palácio das Artes school.
She acts internationally as a teacher, choreographer, dancer, and member of the judging committee for several art and dance festivals.
Ana has translated the book ‘Basic Principles of Classical Dance’ by Vaganova – the mother of the Russian ballet technique – from Russian to Portuguese, and published numerous articles on dance history, art reviews, and news in specialised webpages and newspapers.
